karim morani

karim moraniCineyug Films Director Karim Morani's bail petition has been rejected by the Patiala House Court in the 2G spectrum scam case. While rejecting his bail application Special Judge OP Saini ordered that Morani be sent to judicial custody. He was arrested soon after his bail petition was rejected. Morani is accused of facilitating kickbacks to Kalaignar TV and was allegedly instrumental in the transfer of Rs 214 crore from Shahid Balwa-promoted DB Realty to Kalaignar TV in which Kanimozhi and Sharad Kumar have a stake of 20% each.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has alleged that Morani took Rs 6 crore for facilitating the Rs 214 crore transaction. The court did not accepted the plea of the accused that he was entitled for bail as he was not arrested during the investigation of the case. Opposing the bail plea of Morani, CBI had said all other accused, involved in the transaction of Rs 200 crore from DB Realty to Kalaignar TV, are already in judicial custody. The court had earlier dismissed Morani's anticipatory bail plea on medical ground, saying that as per May 19 reports received from the department of Cardiology and Neurosurgery of Mumbai's J J Hospital, his condition is "stable and normal". DMK MP and Kanimizhi, who is former Tamil Nadu chief minister M Karunanidhi’s daughter, is accused of accepting the bribe of Rs 214 crore. Morani, chargesheeted in the 2G spectrum scam, had moved a bail application in a Delhi Court despite the CBI terming as "misconceived" his apprehension that he may be subjected to custodial interrogation.
