tere sang

tere sang So, when the global tunesmith A R Rahman took to the stage (a jaw-dropping one) on Sunday evening for his maiden concert in the city, it was time for Nagpurians to relish firsthand the A R Rahman's pastiche of compositions. And unlike his music, which often takes time to grow on you, at his concert he had the jam-packed Nagpur audience musically spellbound in a blink! Soulful singing Like a magician, who takes out boundless goodies from his hat, the intrepid composer in a magical manner swung from classical.

to pop, to mystical in a manner that only a maven musician can. As he sang Tere Bina (Guru), Dil se re (Dil Se), Yeh Jo Des Hai Tera (Swades), Chand Suraj (Gurus of peace), Luka Chupi (Rang D Basanti), Arziyaan ( Delhi 6) and Khwaja Mere Khwaja (Jodhaa Akbar), listeners were swept off their feet by the Rahman brand of music. As electronic screens zoomed in on Rahman, his countenance spoke of a musician whose world was filled with just music. Closing his eyes as he hit those high notes and swerved to the low ones dexterously, here was a vintage sight - Rahman one with his music. Nightingale meets maestro It's not often that one gets to see two legends perform on one stage. But, Nagpurians saw a unique and soulful duet of Lata Mangeshkar with Rahman. "Lata ji has been kind enough to lend this video to us for our concert," said Rahman as he got ready to sing Luka Chupi with Lata Mangeshkar. As the wide digital screen, which was the backdrop of the stage, showed Lata Mangeshkar singing this song, Rahman joined in. Sure enough, it was not just a magical sight, but also tugged at the heartstrings.
