
YosemiteRangers continued to search Wednesday morning for hikers who were swept over a popular Yosemite National Park waterfall. Park officials received several calls about 1 p.m. Tuesday that at least one hiker had been swept over Vernal Falls near Curry Village in Yosemite Valley. Kari Cobb, a park spokeswoman, confirmed Wednesday morning that teams began searching at first light and were looking for more than one person. A larger-than-normal snowpack last winter has resulted in strong runoff in the waters of Yosemite and Central California this year, making the area’s rivers and streams particularly dangerous.
