abhinav mukund

abhinav mukundGautam Gambhir and Yuvraj Singh were ruled out from the Indian squad for the full tour to the West Indies and have been replaced by Shikhar Dhawan and Manoj Tiwary in the ODI and the Twenty20 teams, the Indian cricket board announced Friday. Gambhir is nursing a shoulder injury that he picked up at the fag end of the ICC World Cup earlier this year and will be missing the entire tour of the Caribbean as also Yuvraj who is "suffering from an upper respiratory infection, with a small patch of pneumonitis in the left lung", according to a press release from Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary N.Srinivasan.

Gambhir was to lead the One-Day International (ODI) team in the West Indies. Suresh Raina will now lead the ODI and Twenty20 squads, with Harbhajan Singh as his deputy. Gambhir's injury stirred a controversy after media reports suggested that the left-hander played with a sore shoulder in the Indian Premier League, skippering the Kolkata Knight Riders. The selectors also named a 15-member Test squad sans Sachin Tendulkar, who has requested a break to spend time with his family. Tendulkar, however, will be available for the full tour of England. “Sachin Tendulkar requested that he be allowed to spend time with his family.

He will, therefore, not play the Test series. However, he will be available for the full tour of England that follows,” the BCCI said in the release. Tamil Nadu batsman Abhinav Mukund is the new face in the Test team while leg-spinner Amit Mishra makes a comeback. Test team: Mahendra Singh Dhoni (captain), V.V.S Laxman (vice-captain), Murali Vijay, Abhinav Mukund, Rahul Dravid, Virat Kohli, Subramaniam Badrinath, Harbhajan Singh, Ishant Sharma, Sreesanth, Amit Mishra, Pragyan Ojha, Zaheer Khan, Munaf Patel, Suresh Raina, Parthiv Patel.
