bryan stow

bryan stowAt some point, it's just a gameOf course, as fans, we love our teams. We buy t-shirts and jerseys and watch every game without fail. Countless dollars go towards seeing games in person and it's more than just a hobby for some fansBut it's not worth fighting or dying overWhen Bryan Stow was beaten after a game between the San Francisco Giants and Los Angeles Dodgers, it was a violent wake-up call to fans everywherIf you're someone who is wearing the other team's colors at a game, you automatically become a target and naturally you expect some light teasing and some lively debate.

But there is no reason it ever has to escalate past thaYou have to realize that it's just a rivalry, even if it's something as big as the Yankees and the Red Sox. It's okay to dislike teams, but when it comes to throwing things, insulting people and assaulting fans in the parking lot, it's gone way too far. When you see an opposing fan in your stadium, think about how you'd feel if you were in that person's shoes.Giovanni Ramirez, 31, was arrested Sunday at an apartment on Mariposa Avenue in East Hollywood. He is accused of being one of two men who blindsided Stow in the stadium parking lot March 31 following the season opener between the rival teamsStow,

42, suffered brain damage in the attack and remains hospitalizedWould you want to be insulted, bothered and then attacked in the parking lot for your troubles? Hopefully, when these rivalries get renewed, the fans will exhibit better behavior and I think we'll see better security and more responsible behaviorThis news is fresh in all of our minds, and deep down, we know we're better than getting into fist fights over games that we have no factor in. I expect better behavior from fans and more enforcement from fanbaseThey aren't going to tolerate some drunken idiots painting a whole group of people as goons. It's time for a better atmosphere at games and it's sad that it had to come to this to see some real change.
