weather underground A low pressure system moving eastward across the Central U.S. will continue producing heavy showers and severe thunderstorms. Counter-clockwise flow around the system will continue pulling in warm and moist air from the Gulf of Mexico. This will push a warm front through the Midwest and up the Ohio River Valley. Expect widespread scattered showers and thunderstorms to pop up across the Central U.S. and Midwest, while severe storms are more likely to develop in the Mid-Mississippi River Valley and will move into Tennessee and Kentucky.

Expect rainfall totals around an inch across most of the Central U.S., with up to 2 inches likely in areas of severe storm development. In addition, expect large hail and strong, damaging winds in areas of severe storms. In the South, high pressure will remain the dominant weather feature across the Southwest and Southern Plains. This will bring another dangerous fire weather day from the Interior Southwest to the Texas Panhandle. Sustained winds will range from 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 40 mph and dry air pouring in from the North will create low humidity across the region.
