iphone 4 price in india

iphone 4 price in indiaCalling himself a “fan of Apple products,” Mr. Nigam said that he thought the phone would be a pleasure to use now that India was rolling out 3G services. He said that compared to other smartphones, the iPhone 4 offered “much better compatibility between its different applications since the hardware and software are made by the same company.” The touchscreen handset is equipped with a faster processor, a higher-quality screen and longer battery life than previous models of the iPhone and video-chat.

Its main competitors in India are devices running Google’s Android software as well as Research In Motion’s BlackBerry device. The iPhone was first introduced in India in 2008. Apple Inc., the creator of iPod, iPhones and iPads, launched the iPhone 4 in the U.S. last year at a price of $199. Soon after its U.S. launch, and despite glowing early reviews, iPhone4 came in for a lot of criticism over its antenna—Consumer Reports said it couldn’t back the phone because of reception problems. An Airtel executive told Dow Jones Newswires last summer that he expected the iPhone4 to come to India in September or October.

The phone did come to China last fall, where it appeared to be a massive hit, though not to India. Now that it is here, will iPhone4 be as popular in India, most of whose 700 million cellphone users rely on ultra-cheap handsets, as it has been across the border? People passing by the iPhone4 display in the Airtel shop didn’t seem to think so. “Even when the iPhone 3 was launched, everyone was quite excited,” said Ketika Swarup, 31, who works at a nearby advertising agency. “But it went on to become a damp squib because of its steep price. This will also follow suit.”
